Contemporary Art and Song is the outcome of an educational project that enabled nearly 400 students from ten Montréal elementary schools to explore the theme of song in contemporary art. First of all, a visit to the exhibition Leonard Cohen: Une brèche en toute chose / A Crack in Everything gave them an opportunity to discover the different ways the featured artists drew inspiration from Cohen the man, his words or his music. Then, under the guidance of their art teachers, they each created a digital work related to this theme. Some chose to form connections between song and digital photographs, while others produced frame-by-frame animated works, or videos inspired by various words and music.

This project is part of the artistic and cultural practices covered by the program A Montréal School for All (Ministère de l’Éducation et de l’Enseignement supérieur).
