Charles Stankievech creates “field works” that call upon the materiality of electromagnetics, the apparatus of architecture, and the strategies of institutions. Within a conceptually-driven practice, he uses curating, pedagogy and writing as integral forms of art in and of themselves. His wide-ranging, multidisciplinary approach has resulted in sculptural works, installations, films, photographs and performance, that combine elements such as light, sound, archival documents and works by other artists. Stankievech explores ideas that are linked to, among other things, site and landscape, contemporary geopolitical contexts, and the history of technology.
