- Artwork description
- For Montréal’s Expo ’67, Pierre Heyvaert created his first metal sculpture with cut-out angular shapes articulated in a set of projections. From that point on, the acute angle of the triangle would become the primary element of his painted metal sculptures, beginning with his series Espaces triangulaires. The artist’s sculptures consist of planes that define a volume, with spaces that alternate between emptiness and fullness. The importance of colour in these works, in this case red, white and black, distinguishes them from the artist’s previous works.
