Artwork description
In June 2006, Kelly Richardson captured the sun rising over a magnificent landscape in England’s Lake District, an area well-known for its stunning landscapes. In Exiles of the Shattered Star, a video installation presented as a 30-minute loop in a darkened room, cascading fireballs rain down on this captivating scene. Richardson’s surreal tableau oscillates between reality and fiction while hinting at some faraway catastrophe. This meditative, non-narrative work holds the viewer’s attention while imparting a sense of ambiguity.
