- Artwork description
- Russian-born artists Ilya and Emilia Kabakov have collaborated on monumental installations that are rooted in a Soviet sociopolitical and cultural context. We were in Kyoto invites viewers to enter a minimalist environment resembling a kind of Zen garden, whose tranquil atmosphere is disrupted by the sudden cascading of confetti. The timely association between the austere environment and the festively poetic dimension of the piece provides a destabilizing and memorable experience.
