The Mus\u00e9e d’art contemporain de Montr\u00e9al makes today\u2019s art a vital part of Montr\u00e9al and Qu\u00e9bec life. For more than fifty years, this vibrant museum has brought together local and international artists, their works and an ever growing public. It is a place of discovery, offering visitors experiences that are continually changing and new, and often unexpected and stirring. The Mus\u00e9e presents temporary exhibitions devoted to outstanding and relevant current artists who provide their own, particular insight into our society, as well as exhibitions of works drawn from the museum\u2019s extensive collection. Every form of expression may be featured: digital and sound works, installations, paintings, sculptures, ephemeral pieces, and more. In addition to its wide range of educational activities familiarizing the general public with contemporary art, the Mus\u00e9e also organizes unique artistic performances and festive events. To achieve this, it offers visitors a range of artistic and educational activities that familiarize the general public with contemporary art. With a history that already spans half a century, the Mus\u00e9e pursues its mission with ever greater conviction: to make known, promote and preserve Qu\u00e9bec contemporary art and ensure a place for international contemporary art through acquisitions, exhibitions and other activities.<\/p>\n Truly a museum for the twenty-first century, the MAC aims to be accessible, trailblazing and visionary; a vibrant place of dialogue and discovery bringing together contemporary art, local and international artists and their works, and all different kinds of audience. Today more than ever, the MAC wants to reaffirm its leadership role and convince a continually growing public of the essential contribution made by contemporary art in asserting and developing our culture, and the clear value it holds for our society.<\/p>\n Le Mus\u00e9e d\u2019art contemporain de Montr\u00e9al a \u00e9t\u00e9 fond\u00e9 par le gouvernement du Qu\u00e9bec en 1964, \u00e0 la demande d\u2019artistes et de collectionneurs qui souhaitaient qu\u2019une institution soit charg\u00e9e de constituer une collection d\u2019\u0153uvres r\u00e9centes d\u2019artistes de Montr\u00e9al, du Qu\u00e9bec, du Canada et de l\u2019\u00e9tranger.<\/p>\n Le Mus\u00e9e s\u2019ouvre au public en mars 1965 dans des locaux temporaires \u00e0 la Place Ville Marie, puis, de 1965 \u00e0 1968, au Ch\u00e2teau Dufresne. En 1968, le Mus\u00e9e emm\u00e9nage dans la Galerie d\u2019art international d\u2019Expo 67, \u00e0 la Cit\u00e9 du Havre.
