General Idea

Collective active from 1969 to 1994

Founded by AA Bronson, Felix Partz, and Jorge Zontal, General Idea was a multidisciplinary group that produced experimental works such as the Miss General Idea Pageant and Miss General Idea Pavillion, as well as paintings, objects, performances, and videos. General Idea also founded the Toronto-based FILE Megazine, a parodic response to conventional art magazines.
