The Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal is pleased to present an outdoor exhibition featuring eleven artists from Québec and elsewhere in Canada who work at the intersection of comics, illustrated stories, drawing, and contemporary art.

Comics have been a prominent part of the Montréal cultural landscape for several decades, supported by independent publishers, book fairs, bookstores, and devoted followers. They resonate strongly with certain visual artists, who draw directly on comic book aesthetics, codes, and attitudes, and offer new paths for exploring narrative through art.

The artists presented here employ a wide variety of approaches, styles, and themes to probe today’s complexities, highlighting the artist’s position in society, the human psyche, and the spaces in which they move. Each in their own way, the artists conceive of new worlds that engage our imaginations and awaken us to other realities.
