As part of this retrospective of the work of the Abenaki artist Alanis Obomsawin, an activist, singer and filmmaker, we invite you to take part in workshops that are both expressive and introspective. In addition to a selection of her most significant films, accompanied by related archives, monotypes and etchings are a major part of this exhibition. Through varied media and techniques, you will explore a range of themes: the animal world, nature, self-portrait, dreams, memories and stars.

During these workshops, you will be inspired by several artists from various disciplines – installation, video, photography, drawing and tapestry – whose practices explore notions of modernist architecture. In addition to reflecting on the evolution of cities in our societies, you will experiment with visual arts strategies and unusual materials. More specifically, your creations will take flight through themes addressed by the exhibition: megastructures, the esthetic of buildings from the past, and even the history of Place Ville Marie, the Museum’s temporary home during its transformation.

The day of the activity, if you arrive early, you can visit the exhibition free of charge by presenting your online workshop admission ticket.
