The result of a collaboration between Passages, an organization that supports young women facing difficulties, and the MAC, this large-scale projection, shown on the wall near Saint-Laurent metro station (Montreal), brings together drawings by 21 women aged 18 to 35 who share their experiences and realities. Their paths are diverse, and each brings her own unique perspective and voice.

Presented as animations, these works took shape over more than five months of workshops inspired by the work of Montreal artist Julie Doucet. The themes explored in her artistic universe fuelled the participants’ reflections, and correspondence with the artist extended the dialogue.

By sharing their stories in the public space, where they are usually rendered invisible, these women invite us to take the time to listen. Stop by from November 2 to 21, from sunset to midnight.

A MAC project created in collaboration with Passages and co-presented with the Partenariat du Quartier des spectacles.

About the “Ce qui doit être dit” Program

“Ce qui doit être dit” is a program created by the Museum to collaborate with diverse communities across the island of Montreal, using contemporary art as a driver of transformation.

Each project is developed with a community partner to meet the specific needs and interests of its participants, and takes place over several months. It comes to life through creative workshops that draw inspiration from the Museum’s exhibitions or works from its collection.
