Montréal, May 13, 2010 — Scheduled to run from May 14 to 29, 2011, at the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal, Arrimage 2011 – Geometric Variations showcases works created by more than 500 students from seventeen Montréal elementary schools following their visits to the Montréal Science Centre and the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal.
This year, the student artists were guided by the theme of geometry as they explored the many facets of contemporary art. In the course of this investigation, which covered principles of composition in painting, modular structures in sculpture and geometric volumes in architecture, they discovered how art and math go hand in hand.
The exhibition was organized by the Musée’s Artistic and Education Department in conjunction with the Supporting Montréal Schools section of the Access to Cultural Resources Program, under the auspices of Québec’s Ministère de l’Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport.
Arrimage 2011 – Geometric Variations is presented in Beverley Webster Rolph Hall and admission to the exhibition is free. Hours: Tuesday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
