Montréal, June 21, 2013 — The Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal Board of Trustees, chaired by Alexandre Taillefer, is pleased to announce the appointment of its new Director, John Zeppetelli. Mr. Zeppetelli, who has been with DHC/ART since 2006, will take up his new role at the Musée as of Monday, August 12 this year.
John Zeppetelli brings many years of sound experience to the challenge of developing a new strategic plan in conjunction with the Musée Board of Trustees. Key elements in the objective of this new strategy will be to better adapt the Musée to its patrons, to improve attendance, to grow its self-generated revenues and to manage the MAC renovation project. Other functions of his mandate are renewal of the program line-up and development of the collection and the educational offer within the framework of a relevant marketing strategy and a rethink of the management of museum spaces. He will also be expected to maintain close ties with the Musée’s various stakeholders (the arts and business communities, government and the general population) in Montreal, Quebec, Canada and the international visual arts world.
Before he joined DHC/ART, John Zeppetelli designed public programs and organized exhibitions at the Saidye Bronfman Centre for the Arts, the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal and the ICA in London. He also worked in a major New York gallery while pursuing an independent study program through the Whitney Museum. Mr. Zeppetelli has given presentations on the history and theory of video art at the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design and at Concordia University. He has also organized media arts festivals in Canada and Europe. The works of this award-winning filmmaker have, additionally, been screened internationally at festivals and in galleries.
John Zeppetelli is the 10th Director of the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal, which will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2014.
