As part of the 2023 Journées de la culture, the MAC invites you to rediscover the fantastic world of La Joute (1969-1970), a public art and sculpture-fountain by artist Jean Paul Riopelle surrounded by the towers of downtown Montreal. Take part in this creative workshop inspired by the mythical animal figures made of bronze and the play of mist and light that animate the elements.
Participants of all ages are invited to explore this artwork in a new way using drawing and mixed media outdoors. Take part and discover the creative prompts designed by MAC art mediators who will welcome you on the site dedicated to the artist.
The workshop is offered free upon reservation and is open to everyone.
This activity is presented in collaboration with the Riopelle Foundation as part of the festivities surrounding Riopelle’s 100th anniversary.
Location
Please note that the activity will take place outside* at the Place Jean Paul-Riopelle, on the corner of rue Viger and rue Place Jean-Paul-Riopelle. Here you will find the meeting point next to La Joute.
* In case of bad weather, this activity will take place at Palais des congrès, located very close to La Joute. You will receive an email from us the day of the activity with additional details.
Acknowledgement
With special thanks to the Fondation Riopelle and the Palais des congrès de Montréal for their support in making this activity possible.
