I support local art
With exhibition postponements resulting in lower visibility, shuttered creative spaces and a loss of income, our artistic community needs us more than ever.
MAC 2020: 100% dedicated to local artists
The MAC has decided to devote 100% of this year’s acquisition budget ($300,000) to the purchase of works by artists living and working in Québec. By setting this priority for the collection’s 2020 acquisition plan, we want to play a valuable role towards providing tangible support for artists who have chosen to apply their creative talents here.
HELP US DOUBLE THIS BUDGET: 100% of your donations will go to local artists and gallerists
To make this gesture go even further, the MAC Foundation is launching an ambitious fundraising campaign that aims to double this budget, with a total goal of 600 000$ of acquisitions this year. We will accomplish this through the generosity of our partners and members, as well as the general public. With your help, we can attain this ambitious goal.
Join us in meeting this challenge!
LET’S MAKE AN ARTFUL IMPACT: More equitable, relevant and inclusive representation
Beyond providing meaningful financial support for the artistic community, your support offers many more benefits.
This year, our focus will be on emerging artists, on cultural and regional diversity, as well as on gender equality. Given the importance a museum acquisition can have in an artist’s career, every acquisition has the potential for incalculable repercussions.
Doubling the budget also means more equitable, relevant and inclusive representation of the diversity of artistic practices in Québec. Each acquired work contributes to enriching our collective heritage.
Join the movement now!
Every contribution counts. Thank you for your generosity!
“We are making this gesture humbly, in a spirit of solidarity. Our motivation, as Canada’s premier museum devoted exclusively to contemporary art, is to offer hope to the visual arts community. Our starting budget is not huge, but the fundraising campaign will bring the total to an amount that is significant for a market the size of Québec.” John Zeppetelli
Tangible action
There is still much to do, but we hope to be able to support some forty artists this year. The first purchases have already been confirmed, allowing us to act swiftly to inject funds into the local ecosystem.
