Danser avec son fantôme by Elisabeth Perrault joins the MAC collection thanks to the 2026 edition of the Symposium des collectionneurs Banque Nationale Gestion privée 1859.
The Fondation du MAC is pleased to announce that the 2026 edition of the Symposium des collectionneurs Banque Nationale Gestion privée 1859, held on January 28 at Place Banque Nationale, raised close to $90 000 for the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal.
The event offered guests a unique experience by immersing them in the atmosphere of an acquisition committee. Mark Lanctôt, curator of the collection, François LeTourneux, curator and head of cultural action, and Mojeanne Behzadi, curator, presented three works proposed for acquisition. Guided by Eva Hartling’s dynamic animation, guests were able to exchange ideas and debate with the curators, enriching their perspective on the works and collecting.
The evening, marked by a convivial atmosphere and a gourmet meal prepared by the Banque Nationale’s caterer, culminated in a vote by the participants, leading to the selection of the work Danser avec son fantôme by Elisabeth Perrault, which will join the MAC collection.
The Fondation du MAC would like to extend its warmest thanks to Banque Nationale Gestion privée 1859, the event’s main partner. Our sincere thanks also go to the honorary chair, Simon Beaulieu (EY), as well as the organizing committee composed of Louise Chagnon, Maryse Gauthier, and Maryana Matsek, the evening’s host, Eva Hartling, and our partners: Birks for the champagne, as well as Maison Jacynthe Renée and RECESS Station thermale sociale for the gifts and raffles. Finally, we would like to thank all the participants for their generosity and commitment, which made this evening a real success for the benefit of contemporary art.
