Let’s Celebrate the MAC’s 60th Together!
On June 1, 2024—the 60th anniversary of its founding in 1964—the MAC will officially launch a year-long celebration. While the museum’s temporary relocation to Place Ville Marie and limited access to our collection during the renovations at the Place des Arts site prevent our celebrating this anniversary with as big a splash as we have previous milestones, we’ll still be offering memorable special activities from now until the summer of 2025.
Here’s what you need to know to join in these activities—and we’ll be regularly adding even more opportunities to celebrate together!
60 Artworks, 60 Gifts
From June 1, 2024, to January 31, 2025
ome and see our anniversary mural on the fence surrounding the museum’s construction site at Place des Arts. The installation highlights sixty artworks and artists who have shaped our artistic landscape over our 60 years. This selection from our collection is a celebration of the extraordinary support of our donors. Offered as gifts by artists, patrons, and members of our community, these works also convey the wealth of our collective heritage.
This unique showcase of six decades of contemporary art in Montreal reprises our memorable 50th anniversary exhibition, The Grace of a Gesture, which brought together 200 works donated to the museum.
You’ll find the Anniversary Mural on the fence on Jeanne-Mance street.
How About You? An Anniversary Survey
June 1, 2024, to May 31, 2025
The new MAC will be open and accessible—more conducive than ever to conversation and sharing. Our teams are already preparing for the reopening at Place des Arts, where our collection, much of which has been inaccessible to the public during our renovations, will once again be on display.
