Bear Trails (2022) by Brenda Draney joins the MAC collection thanks to the 2024 edition of the Symposium des collectionneurs Banque Nationale Gestion privée 1859. The Fondation du MAC is delighted to announce that the 2024 edition of the Symposium des collectionneurs Banque Nationale Gestion privée 1859, held on October 22 at Galerie Blouin Division, has provided over $90,000 in support of the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal collection. Under the honorary presidency of Stéfanie Roy and Louis T. Lemay, and with Éric Bujold as host-presenter, guests enjoyed a unique immersive experience by participating in an acquisition committee.
During the event, Audrey Genois, Director of Curatorial and Artistic Programming, accompanied by Mark Lanctôt, Curator in charge of the Collection, and Mojeanne Behzadi, Curator at the MAC, presented an exclusive presentation of two works proposed for acquisition. Guests had the opportunity to exchange ideas with the MAC’s mediators and to debate with the curators, enriching their reflections thanks to Eva Hartling’s dynamic animation. The evening unfolded in a convivial atmosphere, punctuated by a gourmet meal prepared by Traiteur Brera. The highlight of the evening was the decisive vote by the guests, who selected Brenda Draney ‘s Bear Trails (2022) to join the MAC collection.
Our warmest thanks to National Bank Private Banking 1859, principal partner of the event, and to Éric Bujold, presenting host. Special thanks to honorary co-presidents Louis T. Lemay and Stéphanie Roy, as well as to the organizing committee, Elizabeth Camiré and Erika Del Vecchio, and evening master of ceremonies Eva Hartling. Thanks to our partners Blouin Division, Fleuriste Marie Vermette, L’Enoteca di Moreno De Marchi, as well as our gift and draw partners: Clarins, available at Holt Renfrew Ogilvy and Quartz Co. We’d also like to thank the participants for their generosity and for making the evening such a success.
