In the wake of the MAC’s most recent act of support toward the ecosystem of the Arts in Quebec in 2020, the Musée and its Fondation, together with the Contemporary Art Galleries Association (AGAC), are proud to announce the MAC’s first set of acquisitions: 7 works by three active female artists established in Quebec, showcased at the 2020 Papier Art Fair, opening today!

  • Untitled (Erickson View#2)(2020) by artist Lorna Bauer (Galerie Nicolas Robert)
  • Apparitions of Collective Disposition No 1, No 2 and No 3 (2019) by artist Jinyoung Kim (Galerie Patrick Mikhail)
  • Misérable nuit (2019), Signal(2019) and Distance entre deux figures (2019) by artist Laurence Veri (Galerie Pangée) showing as of June 11th in a Galerie Pangée exhibit at the old Tscheck Consulate at 1305 Pine Avenue West.

This is a first for all three artists whose works were selected for acquisition and inclusion in the MAC’s collection, and the decision was made as part of a conscious intent to make a special place for emerging artists.

We take this opportunity to recommend you visit the 2020 Papier Art Fair (virtually, of course), on until June 21st.

Finally, the MAC thanks all VIP ticket holders. $100 of every ticket purchased went to the MAC’s “Make an artful impact” fundraising campaign and will go directly toward acquiring more works by Quebec artists in 2020 for the museum’s collection.

Enjoy Papier!
