Capital Campaign

Contemporary art is alive. It’s the art of today and tomorrow – and the MAC is transforming to give it a place to thrive.

The world will be constructed and deconstructed in this transformed space. Offering artists and audiences a new showcase for display and expression, the Musée will constantly delve deeper into the art of evoking, provoking, touching, and enthralling.

This transformed space in the heart of the Quartier des spectacles will be an architectural gem contributing to the revitalization of Montréal and to the community’s economic, cultural, and social wealth.

The artists are questioning, shaking up, and reinventing art to bring a transformed MAC to life.

With your contribution, you’ll reveal, invigorate, and propel the new MAC.

Art & Artists

Art & Artists

And beyond exhibits, let’s foster the pursuit of numerous initiatives to support local artists and their work.

The MAC was founded by the Government of Quebec in 1964, at the request of a group of dedicated artists and art collectors. Since then, it has worked tirelessly to showcase art from here and abroad.

Let’s pledge to fulfilling our mission of creating and welcoming world-caliber exhibits that come to life at the MAC, online or in public spaces, with the goal of nourishing a rich artistic ecosystem.

And beyond exhibits, let’s foster the pursuit of numerous initiatives to support local artists and their work, including commissions, publications, residencies, special projects, promoting artists’ rights, and much more.

Acquisition, Conservation & Research

Acquisition, Conservation & Research

Let’s sustain the MAC’s long-standing commitment to showcasing artists and works from all disciplines and backgrounds.

The MAC has developed Canada’s first and only societal collection devoted exclusively to contemporary art. It now includes over 8,000 works, and its artistic and historical value is inestimable.

Let’s sustain the MAC’s long-standing commitment to showcasing artists and works from all disciplines and backgrounds, with a collection that represents a multitude of techniques – including painting, sculpture, printing, drawing, photography, audiovisual, media, performance, sound, installation, and generative art.

In addition to acquisition, let’s actively commit to contextualizing, preserving, and restoring works of art using the latest practices and techniques.

And let’s ensure that the MAC’s complete collection continues to be available to all on the MACrépertoire platform, as we collectively engage in exploring and promoting our rich artistic heritage.

Education, Engagement & Accessibility

Education, Engagement & Accessibility

Let’s inspire all audiences to explore and engage with the ideas and questions proposed by artists from here and abroad.

Art and creativity are essential to the process of learning, development, and fulfillment at every stage of life.

Let’s guarantee that audiences of all age, from all communities and of all abilities have access to a transformative space which offers a creative experience and encourages critical thinking through activities, programs, workshops and tours – all rooted in dialogue, accessibility and inclusion.

Let’s encourage everyone to explore and engage with the ideas and questions put forth by artists from here and abroad, which contribute to social and cultural transformation.
